Built two DIY Kino Flo's aka Ghetto Flo's for under $ 150.00. They are of course not flicker free since I built them without a ballast, but as long as you stay below 1/200 sec they work just fine. Inspired by Martin Schoeller's Closeup portraits, who uses a similar setup. The most important parts are the flags. Two at each sides and fairly close to the face, two more to direct the Ghetto Flo's since I don't have barndoors attached. I added a gridded Beauty Dish (above and tilted down) for the hair and shoulders and a second head with grid for the background.
