The was a complicated lighting experiment. The main idea was the use of Chiaroscuro (Italian for “light/dark”) Inspired my with works of Caravaggio where a subject comes out of the black and then disappears back into it.
The key light is high above the camera and 2 reflected strip light fill in the side of the face and ears. A strobe on the background added separation betweens the blacks.
